THRIVE Laurens County to host community Data Walk exploring health priorities across the county – Sept. 30

LAURENS, S.C. – THRIVE Laurens County will host a community Data Walk on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., inviting residents, community leaders, health partners and organizations to explore local health data and discuss what it means for the future of Laurens County.
The event will be held at the Piedmont Technical College, Auditorium, Laurens Campus, 663 Medical Ridge Road, Clinton, SC 29325

The Data Walk will provide an opportunity for community members to engage directly with data from the Prisma Health Community Health Needs Assessment and learn more about key health priorities affecting communities across Laurens County. Featured areas will include mental health, diabetes and obesity.
Rather than simply presenting statistics, the Data Walk is designed to encourage conversation and connect data with the lived experiences of Laurens County residents.
“Data tells us part of the story, but our community members help us understand what those numbers look like in real life,” said Jervelle Fort, Co-Chair of the THRIVE Laurens County Coalition. “This Data Walk is an opportunity to bring people together, look at what the data is telling us and have meaningful conversations about the changes and partnerships needed to create a healthier Laurens County.”
THRIVE Laurens County has been engaging residents through community listening sessions to better understand local strengths, challenges and opportunities. During a recent listening session in Mountville, residents discussed barriers including transportation, the distance to grocery stores and recreational facilities, affordability, and access to health information. Participants also identified opportunities to strengthen local food access, activate existing community spaces and create more opportunities for physical activity.
These community conversations are an important part of THRIVE Laurens County’s work to ensure that health initiatives reflect the needs and experiences of the people who live in the communities they serve.
The lunchtime format is intended to make the event accessible to more community members. Boxed lunches will be available for all registered attendees to take with them at the conclusion of the event.
Community members are encouraged to attend, engage with the data and share their perspectives. Registration is required to help organizers plan for attendance and meals.
