Tidelands Health’s monthly ‘Walk with a Doc’ series returns in July focusing on Teen Health
July 16, 2026Tidelands Health, in partnership with Brookgreen Gardens, invites community members to the July installment of its popular, recurring “Walk with a Doc” program on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 10:00 am.
This month, the free monthly series shifts its focus to teen health and family communication. Featured guest speaker Sonya Harden, CNM, a certified nurse-midwife with Tidelands Health OB/GYN, will lead an insightful discussion titled “How to Talk to Your Adolescent about Sensitive Topics.” The session is designed to offer practical guidance for parents and caregivers navigating complex, health-related conversations with teenagers.
Following the brief educational presentation inside the climate-controlled Jennewein Gallery, participants will lace up their walking shoes for a casual, scenic one-mile stroll along the historic paths of Brookgreen Gardens.
“Our ‘Walk with a Doc’ program is designed to pair expert healthcare insights with the natural physical and mental benefits of a walk in a beautiful setting,” said Kelly Thompkins, senior director of community health resources at Tidelands Health. “This month’s topic is incredibly valuable for families, and we encourage parents and caregivers to join us for this supportive, informative session.”
The event is free, but pre-registration is required. Complimentary admission tickets to Brookgreen Gardens will be emailed to registered non-members prior to the walk. Space is limited to the first 50 participants. Every walker age 4 and older must register individually. No pets are allowed.
