Tiger Wells joins Duke Energy

December 16, 2019

In October, Tigerron “Tiger” Wells, Esq. joined Duke Energy as its State Government Affairs Director for the State of South Carolina. An attorney and seasoned government affairs professional, Wells brings nearly 20 years of additional advocacy experience to Duke Energy’s South Carolina team.

A graduate with honors of Morehouse College and the University of Virginia School of Law, Wells returned to his home state while still a student and began his work as a legal professional and advocate. After several years as an attorney with the law firm of Nelson Mullins Riley and Scarborough, LLP, Wells joined the firm of Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, PA (HSB) where he worked as a litigator and public finance attorney, developing a knack for conflict resolution.

After becoming a shareholder with HSB, Wells left private practice to pursue a career in government relations, serving as a voice for South Carolina’s 271 incorporated cities and towns as Government Affairs Liaison and eventually Director of Governmental Affairs for the Municipal Association of South Carolina.

As Duke Energy’s State Government Affairs Director in South Carolina, Wells will work closely with Chuck Claunch, the company’s Vice President of Government Affairs in the Palmetto State, to represent Duke Energy’s interests before the General Assembly, advancing the company’s purpose of powering the lives of its South Carolina customers and the vitality of the communities the company serves.
