Todd & Moore to donate 5 percent of sales to Walk for Life

October 18, 2016

Todd & Moore, Columbia’s Specialist in Sports since 1944, will donate 5 percent of all sales from Thursday to Saturday during its annual Sport Your Pink event to the Palmetto Health Foundation’s 26th annual Walk for Life and Famously Hot Pink Half Marathon.

“At Todd & Moore, we’ve been committed to serving our community for more than 70 years,” said Chuck Todd, owner of the Columbia landmark. “We’re pleased to again be able to do something to give back and to help in the fight against breast cancer.”

Todd & Moore also has created special edition apparel again this year in honor of the event. Its Sport Your Pink collection, available only at its Huger Street store, includes a V-neck top, three-quarter sleeve T-shirt and cinch bag. The shirts will be discounted all this week, plus shoppers will be able to purchase Under Armour Power in Pink apparel at special prices, too.

The races will take place Oct. 22 at Spirit Communications Park. Team and individual registration remain open online through Oct. 20. On-site registration will open Oct. 21, at an Expo from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Spirit Communications Park. Runner registration will not be accepted on race day, though walkers still will be able to sign up that morning.

During the 25th annual event, rescheduled from October 2015 to January 2016 due to last fall’s floods, more than 7,400 runners and walkers participated. More than a half-million dollars was raised, including Todd & Moore’s donation of part of its sales during the first annual Sport Your Pink event. All told, the walk has raised more than $8.5 million for the cause.

All proceeds from the walk and races go to the Palmetto Health Breast Center, which last fiscal year performed more than 40,000 mammograms and served more than 7,000 additional patients at three facilities and through its mobile mammogram unit.
