Todd & Moore fights breast cancer, giving more than $1,000 to Walk for Life

January 26, 2016

Todd & Moore donated more than $1,000 to Palmetto Health Foundation last week to help beat breast cancer in the Midlands. The amount was 5 percent of sales during Todd & Moore’s Sport Your Pink weekend to benefit the Foundation’s 25th annual Walk for Life and Race for Life.

“Sport Your Pink was a great success,” said Chuck Todd, owner of the Columbia landmark. “Not only were we able to help raise money for Walk for Life, but we were able to help spread awareness and get breast cancer on people’s minds in a month other than just October.”

The Walk had been postponed from its usual October date to Jan. 9 because of the historic floods that the Midlands experienced in the fall. That inspired Todd & Moore to offer special pink sweatshirts to help Walk participants keep warm.

“We want to thank Todd and Moore for highlighting the walk with the special products they offered, and especially for their generosity in sharing from their proceeds in the days leading up to the Walk,” said Samuel Tenenbaum, president of Palmetto Health Foundation. “This shows the importance of having locally owned companies that understand the needs of our community. This reflects the deep values that Todd & Moore have, and we thank them very much.”

Proceeds from Walk for Life and Race for Life will be used to purchase 3D Tomosynthesis (DBT) software for Palmetto Health Breast Center at Richland, a whole breast ultrasound system for Palmetto Health Baptist Parkridge and a new mammography system with DBT software for the mobile mammography unit.
