Toomey to Remain Director of S.C. Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services

December 22, 2014

COLUMBIA, SC – Governor Nikki Haley today announced that Bob Toomey will continue serving in his role as the Director of the South Carolina Department of Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services (DAODAS).

Since being appointed by Governor Haley in January of 2011, Director Toomey has focused on coordinating the agency’s efforts with other stakeholders in prevention and treatment services in order to ensure access to assistance for citizens across the state.

“We have been grateful for Director Toomey’s leadership and service at DAODAS over the last four years, and we couldn’t be more excited for the tremendous opportunity his leadership presents for the agency going forward,” said Gov. Haley. “Whether it’s selflessly taking on the role as chairman of the Prescription Drug Abuse Council or volunteering his time with those in need, his eagerness to serve others has had a huge impact on the agency’s effectiveness and it truly is a blessing for all South Carolinians.”

“I am very grateful to Governor Haley for the opportunity to serve individuals and families touched by the chronic disease of substance use disorders,” said Director Bob Toomey. “It is an honor and a privilege to join other public servants at DAODAS as we continue our work to support and sustain the statewide network of local alcohol and drug prevention and treatment agencies.”
