Toucan Tuesday 2015 campaign gathers 4,214 pounds of food, enough to provide 3,241 meals

COLUMBIA, SC – On Thursday, August 20 Harvest Hope Food Bank picked up the final bins of canned goods collected through our 2015 Toucan Tuesday partnership with Riverbanks Zoo & Garden. This week the white Toucan Tuesday bins, stationed every Tuesday throughout the summer at both the Main and Botanical Garden gates, contained 140 pounds, bringing the summer total to 4,214 pounds.

This was the sixth year for the Toucan Tuesday partnership between Riverbanks Zoo & Garden and Harvest Hope Food Bank. Over the last five summers visitors to Riverbanks Zoo & Garden have brought in 29,742 pounds of food, enough to make 22,878 meals.

Toucan Tuesday 2015 began this summer on Tuesday, June 9 and continued every Tuesday, offering the opportunity for two guests to visit Riverbanks Zoo for the price of one with a donation of two non-perishable food items for Harvest Hope.
