Trailblaze Challenge offers life-changing experience for outdoor enthusiasts through Make-A-Wish South Carolina

January 7, 2016

Make-A-Wish South Carolina invites hikers of all experience levels to take on a challenge – the Trailblaze Challenge. Participating hikers will make a life-changing impact on South Carolina kids with life-threatening medical conditions. The Trailblaze Challenge is an endurance program like no other! Hikers tackle 28.3 miles in 1 day on the beautiful Foothills Trail to help grant wishes for South Carolina wish kids.

This endurance program is a symbol of the path that wish children and their families have journeyed on – the highs and lows, obstacles and achievements. It is also an opportunity for members of the community to learn about the power of a wish experience and the impact it has on the lives of the children and families we serve. The Make-A-Wish mission is to bring hope, strength and joy to each family we touch.

Trailblaze Challenge is not a race, it’s a journey. In 2015, over 100 hikers experienced the adventure over the course of two hikes that led them not only to a finish line, but also to a new appreciation for life, for their health and for the power of a wish.  Inspired by the courage of wish kids, they pushed through and conquered what they previously considered the unimaginable.

Now, the Trailblaze Challenge is expanding into the Midlands. For the first time, Make-A-Wish South Carolina will host Trailblaze Challenge information meetings at multiple locations in the Midlands for the May 28, 2016 hike. Make-A-Wish is excited to meet new community members who want to test their physical limits while taking part in something bigger than themselves. Interested Midlands area hikers should attend an information meeting between January 5 and January 16 to register.

In the Upstate, Make-A-Wish South Carolina will host the third hike in the region on May 7, 2016. Outdoor enthusiasts of the Upstate can attend an information meeting between January 5 and January 16 to register for the hike.  Novice to expert-level hikers are invited to join us and learn how they can make a profound impact on the lives of wish kids in their communities.

Last year, many families were positively touched by the generosity of Trailblaze Challenge “Trailblazers”. Don’t miss the chance to be a part of this incredible transformational program.
