Tri-County Cradle to Career adds to staff and board

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – Tri-County Cradle to Career Collaborative (TCCC), an organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for all children, has announced three new additions – board members Julie Medich and Barbara Kelley-Duncan, and staff member Amy Asper.
Julie Medich, a Shareholder and attorney with Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, was elected to an at-large seat on the TCCC board of directors during the organization’s annual meeting in June. A member of the 2014 class of Liberty Fellows, Medich has a long history of community leadership, including positions on the boards of Charleston Regional Development Alliance, Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce and the Trident United Way. She was also recently appointed to the Board of Directors for Liberty Fellows.
Barbara Kelley-Duncan, who recently retired from Carolina Youth Development Center (CYDC), was elected to an at-large seat on the TCCC board of directors during the August meeting. Kelley-Duncan served as Chief Executive Officer for CYDC from 2003-2016, where she cultivated multi-year major grant support from foundations across the nation; oversaw the expansion of the main campus; and brought the first nationally acclaimed Freedom Schools Program to Charleston. She is also a member of the Board of Trustees for Charleston Collegiate on Johns Island and is on the Board of Directors for the Sophia Institute. She was selected as one of the 15 Most Influential Women in Business in Charleston in 2008; Non-Profit Leader of the Year in 2011 by the Trident United Way Women’s Leadership Council; and one of “20 to Know in North Charleston” in 2015 by The Post and Courier.
Amy Asper joins the TCCC staff as the Director of Communications and Administration. A graduate of the College of Charleston, she has more than ten years of experience in communications, marketing and public relations, including four years with Denver Public Schools. Asper was recognized in 2012 with the Peak Award from the Colorado American Marketing Association, and was a member of the 2010 Nashville Young Leaders Council. While in Denver, she served as a volunteer with the Denver Public Schools Foundation, and was a mentor for a local literacy program.

Using data and focused community collaboration across a continuum from “cradle-to-career,” TCCC works to build and implement strategies that will facilitate widespread systemic change, with the ultimate goal of increased student success and economic prosperity for all.
