Tribuddies Dream Realized

October 7, 2008

COLUMBIA, SC – A lawyer’s dream of a program to help deserving kids is now reality.   Tribuddies is helping children in the Midlands to build character, confidence, and spirit.  Through the new program, “Bigs” and “Littles” from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Columbia are paired with coaches to train for triathlons.

Tribuddies athletes’ participated in Columbia Youth Triathlon on September 6 at the Quail Valley Swim and Racquet Club in Irmo.  Click here to watch a video about that competition.

Tribuddies is the brainchild of Nexsen Pruet Board Chairman Leighton Lord.   Lord is 2008 graduate of the Liberty Fellowship.  Fellows are encouraged to create a program that will benefit the state of South Carolina long after they are gone.  Lord has a love of cycling and triathlons, so he contacted Julie Tovey at Big Brothers Big Sisters and  Tribuddies was born.
