Trident Health Welcomes New Chief Medical Officer

CHARLESTON, SC – Kevin Shea, M.D., has been named Chief Medical Officer for Trident Health.
Dr. Shea comes to Trident Health from the Carolinas Hospital System in Florence, S. C. He earned his medical degree at the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola, N.Y., and earned his fellowship in infectious disease at the same institution.
“Dr. Shea’s background as a long-time practicing physician in infectious disease, hospital epidemiologist and Medical Director of infection control will provide strong leadership to Trident Health’s focus on clinical quality improvement and patient safety initiatives,” said Todd Gallati, Trident Health CEO.
A native of Long Island, N.Y., Dr. Shea is board certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians, the Infectious Disease Society of America and the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America. In addition, he is a member of the American Society for Microbiology, the HIV Medicine Association, South Carolina Medical Association and the South Carolina Infectious Disease Society. He has four children and resides with his wife, Shauna, in the Coosaw Creek community of North Charleston.
