Trident United Way President & CEO Chloe Knight Tonney selected to become Riley Fellow

Trident United Way President & CEO Chloe Knight Tonney is joining leaders across the state to participate in the Diversity Leaders Initiative (DLI) at Furman University’s Riley Institute.
Knight Tonney joins a group of 45 people taking part in the second statewide cohort in DLI history. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, regional classes are now a virtual statewide effort.
Knight Tonney will take part in an interactive curriculum consisting of case studies, scenario analyses and other experiential learning tools that maximize interaction and discussion among classmates and facilitate productive relationships.
“We have a 76-year tradition of leadership and service to our community and this is a wonderful opportunity to share ideas and learn new strategies to positively impact the Tri-County region during these difficult times,” Knight Tonney said. “These diverse perspectives coming together will foster more ways to unite our community toward better outcomes in education, financial stability and health.”
DLI class members are selected through a rigorous application and interview process after being nominated by existing Riley Fellows. Participants are accepted based on their capacity to create impact within their organizations and communities.
DLI graduates become Riley Fellows: a powerful group of community leaders that includes CEOs, legislators, educators, religious and nonprofit leadership.
“With more than 2,300 Riley Fellows statewide, each new class amplifies the impact of leaders willing to work together to make South Carolina a better place to live and work for all,” said Dr. Donald Gordon, executive director of the Riley Institute.
