Tripp Whitener Awarded “20 Under 40” Distinction

COLUMBIA, SC – January 28, 2008 – Tripp Whitener, senior vice president and commercial market executive for First Citizens Bank in Columbia, was recently awarded The State newspaper’s distinction as one of “20 under 40” rising stars in business.

Whitener is a graduate of Wofford College with a degree in political economy and philosophy. Whitener graduated Magna Cum Laude and was the recipient of the departmental award for his major. Whitener has been with First Citizens since 2006. Prior to joining First Citizens, he worked in various positions at Bank of America and was the market executive for the Columbia region of RBC Centura Bank.

Whitener is active in the community, serving as the chair elect of the Cultural Council of Richland and Lexington Counties where he also served as the co-chair of Color the Arts Gala of 2007, which produced over $50M of revenue.  Additionally, he is President of the Town Theatre executive board and serves on the executive board of the Indian Waters Council (Boy Scouts). Whitener is married with two children.
