Turner Padget boosts Insurance Litigation practice with addition of three attorneys

January 11, 2016

Turner Padget Graham & Laney, P.A. announces the further expansion of its Insurance Litigation practice with the addition of three attorneys: Greenville-based of counsel David L. Moore, and Charleston-based associates Brian J. Kern and William J. Horvath. These additions support the firm’s commitment to continue building its five South Carolina offices, and complement the significant expansion of the Insurance Litigation practice in 2015 and further growth anticipated in 2016.

“David, Brian and Billy, all experienced trial lawyers, bring a track record of results and a fervent dedication to client service,” said John S. Wilkerson, chair of Turner Padget’s Insurance Litigation practice. “They will help us to further expand our firm’s legacy practice area, serving domestic and international insurance carriers and their insureds.”

Moore, who joins Turner Padget from Nexsen Pruet, brings more than 30 years of experience related to insurance litigation, business disputes, product liability and professional liability matters. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America and a member of the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association. He earned his undergraduate degree from Davidson College and his law degree from the University of South Carolina.

Kern counsels clients in general negligence, premises liability, insurance law and medical malpractice defense matters. He is an active member of the Charleston County Bar Association. He earned his undergraduate degree from Clemson University and his law degree from Charleston School of Law.

Horvath relocates to Charleston from Indianapolis, where he maintained a thriving insurance litigation practice. He is an active member of the Defense Research Institute and contributor to his local community, supporting programs providing representation and legal advice to those in need. He earned his undergraduate and law degrees from Valparaiso University.

“In 2015, our firm saw significant growth across our five South Carolina offices with the addition of 10 attorneys, and we plan to continue deepening our bench in 2016,” said R. Wayne Byrd, chief executive officer of Turner Padget. “We are actively recruiting hard-working lawyers with a commitment to results and client service, particularly in the areas of business and commercial litigation, insurance litigation and workers’ compensation.”
