Turner Padget shareholder Nickisha Woodward named to 2023 Power List in Business Defense by South Carolina Lawyers Weekly

May 8, 2023

Turner Padget announced that Nickisha Woodward, shareholder in the firm’s Charleston office, has been named to the 2023 Power List in Business Defense by South Carolina Lawyers Weekly. The Power List program recognizes top lawyers in a particular practice area. These attorneys are experts in their field, known for their expertise and accomplishments.

Woodward represents international and regional clients in litigation, ranging from insurance coverage and bad faith matters, to products liability and personal injury cases. She has secured numerous favorable outcomes for her clients in those cases, more than half of which resulted in complete defense verdicts. In November 2021, Woodward was inducted into the American Board of Trial Advocates, a national association of renowned trial lawyers and judges. While most lawyers accumulate more than a decade of experience before they are invited to join this elite group, she was remarkably selected for inclusion only eight years into her career. A leader among her peers, Woodward became the first Black woman president of the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association’s Young Lawyer Division in 2020, after serving two years as vice president. Following her term as president, she was elected as a board member in 2021. Woodward also serves as a member of the Charleston County Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, the Loss Executives Association, the James L. Petigru Inn of Court, the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance and the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association.

Woodward earned her undergraduate degree from Clemson University and her law degree from Charleston School of Law.
