Two Diaper Drop Locations Established for County Wide Diaper Drives

September 25, 2022

Community support is growing for the recently announced Diaper Drives in Laurens County.

As reported recently, Westminster Presbyterian Church (WPC) in Clinton is partnering with the Carolina Pregnancy Center (CPC) in Spartanburg to provide “Diaper Drives” in Laurens County. WPC is collecting diapers of all sizes and wipes (new and unopened) to be distributed at Diaper Drives for those in need.

In support of the initiative, community members can participate by contributing diapers, wipes, or funds. Sadler Hughes Apothecary in Clinton and Courthouse Coffee on the Public Square in Laurens have agreed to be the “diaper drop” locations.  Items can be dropped off at the pharmacy during hours of operation, Monday-Friday 8:30-7:00 and Saturday, 8:30-4:00.

“This is a great community project, and we are thrilled to support the effort,” said Walter M. Hughes III, Vice President, and CEO Sadler Hughes Apothecary. “We are happy to be a collection location and will also be contributing to the Diaper Drive.”

In Laurens grab a cup of coffee when dropping off diapers and wipes. Courthouse Coffee is open Monday – Friday 7:00 – 4:00 and Saturday, 8:00 – 2:00.

“We are proud to be a diaper drop location and do our part to support such a great community project,” said owner LeighAnne Mataranglo.

The first two diaper drives are scheduled for October. CPC will be onsite with their mobile unit providing free ultrasounds or pregnancy testing as needed.

  • Clinton – Monday, October 3 from 10 am – 12 pm in the Victory Worship Center Parking Lot (intersection of Highway 76 E and Springdale Drive).
  • Laurens – Monday, October 24 from 10 am – 12 pm in the parking lot of First Baptist Church in Laurens.

In order to provide supplies to as many as possible, distribution will be limited to 1 pack of diapers and wipes per child with a max of two children per household. Parents will be required to provide the child’s name and verification of custody/birth.  Please be prepared with appropriate identification which includes parent or guardian photo id (a copy will be made) and could be one of the following to show verification of custody: birth certificate, WIC or Medicaid card for child, foster care/custody paperwork, daycare/school ID.

With community support, plans are to continue the Diaper Drives.  The schedule for November will be announced by mid-October.
