Two Richland One high schools have been named among the “Best High Schools” in the nation by U.S. News & World Report in its 2024 ranking.

Dreher High School and A.C. Flora High School were ranked in the top 40% out of 17,655 public high schools nationwide.

U.S. News & World Report ranks the top schools based on college readiness, college curriculum breadth, state assessment proficiency, state assessment performance, underserved student performance and graduation rate.

In addition to the national ranking, Dreher was ranked the third-best high school in the Columbia metropolitan area and 14th in South Carolina.

“We are honored to be recognized once again by U.S. News & World Report as one of the Best High Schools in America. This distinction is the culmination of the effort and work from the entire Dreher community. Being named a top school in the state and nation not only honors the efforts and work of our teachers and students, but it also honors the support of our families and school district. I am thankful for our whole community, past and present,” said Dreher Principal Dr. Joe Eberlin.

A.C. Flora was ranked fourth in the Columbia metropolitan area and 16th in South Carolina.

“I am extremely proud that A.C. Flora is ranked 16th in South Carolina! This ranking is an improvement from over the last few years and is a testament to the hard work of our teachers and student body. The support of our parents and community also contributes to our success. The Flora Falcons are honored to be recognized as a top-performing school,” said A.C. Flora Principal Susan Childs.
