Two Richland Two employees named Palmetto Center for Women Honors recipients

Dr. Maria Kratsios and Nancy Marine have been selected as 2016 Palmetto Center for Women (PCW) Honors Recipients. The Palmetto Center for Women Honors (formerly the TWIN Awards) recognizes women whose outstanding achievements distinguish them as leaders and role models in the community.
Dr. Kratsios serves as the district’s Associate for Advanced Programs and was awarded the honor by the PCW in the education category. Dr. Kratsios is responsible for managing district operations for the gifted and talented program ALERT, the Arts and the Tri-District Arts Consortium programs. She also serves on the boards of several charitable organizations including the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina.
Affectionately known as the “Queen of the Art Room” at Killian Elementary School, Nancy Marine was awarded the honor by the PCW in the arts category. Marine’s real passion is art education in her classroom and beyond. She and her students participate in the Art Makers Festival in Lake City and the Makers Fairs in Columbia and Atlanta. Marine has donated her art to many charity auctions including the Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands and Columbia Food Relief. She is a regular competitor and winner in the Columbia Design League’s annual fashion contest, Runaway Runway.
These two outstanding women were recognized by the PCW at an awards luncheon held in February. The PCW Honors Luncheon recognizes women whose outstanding achievements distinguish them as leaders and role models in the community. Since the inception of the awards in 1980, more than 700 women have been honored who have made outstanding contributions to their professions and communities.
