UBooster makes athletic funding easier

January 30, 2015

GREENVILLE, SC – New online funding platform UBooster has now made it easier for sports fans to get more information regarding their favorite schools and student-athletes.

“There has been a lot of interest in UBooster since our launch earlier this month,” said Patrick Sapp, the brand’s ambassador. “We have now streamlined the site to make it easier to use and more interactive with video, our Twitter feed, and other new additions.”

Some of the most recent additions include athlete endorsements, an interactive blog forum, a MythBoosters web video, an interactive user dashboard that allows you to set your team and rival preferences, a new division of athletes added weekly as well as new sports including women’s basketball and men’s baseball.

UBooster is a one-of-a-kind program that allows ordinary fans to show their support for their school’s athletic prospects. Fans pledge funds in support of a prospect’s consideration of a particular college. If an athlete chooses that fan’s specified athletic program, then the school’s booster club will receive the funds to use under its own departmental guidelines. Fans participating do not have to pay pledges if the athlete doesn’t choose their school.

UBooster was developed in recognition of the evolving requirements to compensate college athletes for use of their likeness and image, guaranteed full four-year scholarships, and increased stipends to cover an athlete’s full cost of attendance, all of which are quickly creating new financial obligations for hundreds of colleges and universities. UBooster provides a new funding source to uniquely supplement existing efforts of booster clubs to offset the rising costs of college sports.

When fans contribute 100-percent tax deductible funds through UBooster, student-athletes will ultimately benefit as the booster clubs that receive these contributions can allocate these funds to support student-athletes within their own program parameters. If the booster club at a college does not accept the money, it will be donated to the general fund for the school.
