United Community Bank donates $20,000 to United Way

December 21, 2020

United Community Bank announced gifts totaling $20,000 to five United Way chapters throughout the bank’s southeastern footprint. The donations were made on behalf of an interactive online campaign the bank hosted in collaboration with its customers. Receiving organizations included Trident United Way (SC), United Way of Central Carolinas (NC), United Way of White County (GA), Habersham County United Way (GA) and United Way of Greater Atlanta.

“As we near the end of what has been a challenging year for so many of us, we thought it was important to take some time to recognize the various things we are so appreciative of,” said Moryah Jackson, Vice President of Community Development and Engagement at United Community Bank. “Even in the face of adversity, there are always a lot of good things happening in the community and in our lives. With this campaign we were proud to inspire an attitude of gratitude and support such a deserving organization like the United Way.”

For the past several weeks, United has asked customers to connect with them online and via social media to share the many things for which they are grateful. Responses could be submitted directly to United’s website or social media channels, or customers could respond using the hashtag #UnitedInGratitude. Responses, which included appreciation for family, health, financial assistance from the bank, and more, were populated to a landing page on the bank’s website for others to see.
