United Community Bank headquarters officially changed to Greenville

July 12, 2021

United Community Bank has officially located its headquarters in Greenville, South Carolina, effective July 1, 2021. Following several years of growth in South Carolina, United announced its intent to name Greenville as its corporate headquarters in February of this year.

“Greenville provides an excellent place for our company to continue our plans for strategic growth. As we’ve increased our operations here over the past nine years, we’re continually impressed with the strong public-private partnership that helps to thoughtfully grow this community,” said Lynn Harton, Chairman and CEO of United Community Bank. “More importantly, this vibrant community is an excellent place for our employees and their families to live and provides a great opportunity for future recruitment.”

United established a presence in Greenville in 2012 and opened its first permanent branch in the area in 2015. The bank continued to grow across the state through a mix of acquisition and organic growth in the Upstate, Charleston, Myrtle Beach, and most recently, Columbia. Today, the bank has more than 600 employees in South Carolina and more than 290 in Greenville County. As part of the announcement in February, the bank shared plans to add an additional 227 employees to its corporate headquarters over the next several years.
