United Community expands Wealth division in Greenville with three veteran hires
June 19, 2025United Community is strengthening its recently launched Wealth division with the addition of three experienced bankers in the Greenville market: Brian Hungerford, Kurt Schumacher and Charles Williams.
Hungerford joins the bank as regional director of private wealth, overseeing private bankers across South Carolina and Georgia. He brings more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, with expertise spanning investments, commercial and corporate banking, debt capital markets and private wealth management. Prior to joining United, he served as associate branch manager and family wealth advisor at Baird. He has also held senior leadership roles at Wells Fargo and Bank of America.
Schumacher joins the bank as a wealth strategist, supporting private bankers, trust officers and customers with key planning decisions. A licensed attorney with more than 25 years of experience, he brings extensive experience in estate planning, probate and trust administration, business succession and generational wealth transfer. Prior to joining United, Schumacher practiced as an estate planning and business attorney, and he has been recognized annually in Best Lawyers in America for Trusts and Estates since 2008.
Williams joins the bank as a senior portfolio manager, overseeing investment management for clients across Georgia and South Carolina. He brings 30 years of experience in wealth management, building and managing portfolios for individuals, families and institutions. Williams has expertise across asset classes and investment vehicles, including equities, fixed income, mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, hedge funds and private equity. Prior to joining United, he held investment roles at Wachovia, SouthState and Pinnacle Financial Partners.
