United Ministries adopts Greenlink bus stops

March 2, 2020

United Ministries (UM) is partnering with Greenlink to improve the bus stops located near their Learning Center at 503 Vardry Street through Greenlink’s Adopt-A-Stop program. Throughout the next year, United Ministries will clean up trash and litter, report vandalism or safety concerns, and assess whether there is a need for amenity upgrades.

According to Amanda Warren, Associate Director of Integrated Services, United Ministries is excited for this opportunity to support Greenlink and public transportation in their community. “United Ministries exists to serve and empower individuals in our community. So many of the individuals in our community who access our services use these stops, and this seems like a natural extension of our ability to serve our participants and improve our community,” said Warren.

While each of the more than 425 stops throughout Greenville County receives a scheduled cleaning, and repairs and maintenance occur when Greenlink is notified of any issues, the Adopt-A-Stop program provides a way for community groups like UM to help address maintenance concerns such as graffiti removal, urgent repairs, garbage cleanup, and security issues more quickly. Interested groups can also sponsor amenity upgrades such as landscaping, trash cans, sidewalk landing pads, benches, or shelters through financial contributions.
