Discount prescription card helps consumers nationwide save millions of dollars while generating revenue for their communities.

EASLEY, SC – January 15, 2013 – The providers of the Coast2Coast Rx card and the United Way of Pickens County announced that the United Way will launch distribution of the discount prescription program that allows consumers to receive significant savings on prescription drugs and other healthcare services, as one of its community partners. By providing this important resource to help consumers improve their health and financial stability, the Coast2Coast Rx card will help the United Way further its mission of improving lives and striving for the greater good in the communities that it serves.

Coast2Coast Rx differs from other free discount prescription cards by giving back to the communities it serves in more ways than one: first, by providing access to affordable medicines to help improve both consumers’ health outcomes and their personal finances; and second, by creating revenue for its partnering organization. In its collaboration with Coast2Coast Rx, United Way of Pickens County will receive $1.25 for each prescription filled using the card, helping the chapter to maximize its investment in the community.

“Economic challenges have affected both individuals and nonprofit organizations, and the Coast2Coast Rx program helps us execute our mission to lead Pickens County in creating and developing resources to enhance the quality of life for individuals, families and the community,” said  Karen Culley, the Vice President of Community Impact of the United Way of Pickens County.

As the chosen discount card of more than 280 governmental entities nationwide, Coast2Coast Rx saves consumers millions of dollars on their prescriptions and other healthcare services each year. With no restrictions on age, income status, or existing health conditions, the benefits of the card apply to everyone: those with no insurance coverage, the underinsured and those with high deductibles or prescriptions not covered by their health plan. In some cases Medicare patients will find that the card can help reduce costs of the Part D “donut hole.”

“The ability to access affordable prescriptions and healthcare is vital to the foundation of a thriving community,” stated Chief Marketing Officer Marty Dettelbach of Financial Marketing Concepts, Inc., the company that provides the discount prescription card. “Helping individuals and families improve their health and finances while contributing to the community are the driving force between the partnership of Coast2Coast and the United way of Pickens County.”

Cardholders save an average of 60 percent, and up to 75 percent, on over 60,000 brand name or generic drugs at the 59,000+ participating pharmacies, which includes major chains and many independent locations. Through partner programs, consumers can also utilize their Coast2Coast Rx card for discounts on dental, vision, hearing and lab services, as well as diabetes supplies and even veterinary care and many pet prescriptions. With no paper work to fill out, no membership requirements and no expiration date, the card is a simple way for consumers to immediately save money on their medications and certain healthcare services.

Residents can pick up a card from the United Way of Pickens County office at West End Hall, 201 S. 5th St., Suite 200, Easley, SC. or download and print one from http://www.Coast2CoastRx.com/UnitedWay.
