United Way of the Midlands announces 2016-2017 executive officers, new Board Members

COLUMBIA,SC – As United Way of the Midlands kicks off a new campaign season, the organization is also welcoming its 2016-2017 Executive Officers and Board Members.

Holt Chetwood, Senior VP and Midlands Market President at Wells Fargo, will serve as Chair of the Board of Directors. Chetwood has been a United Way board member since 2010, served as Campaign Co-Chair from 2013-2015 and is a member of United Way’s Palmetto Society.

“I am excited to take on this new role with United Way, an organization that continues to change lives throughout the Midlands,” said Chetwood. “Together, as donors and volunteers, we are helping students succeed, providing access to quality healthcare and working to end homelessness in our community.”

Jason Caskey, Shareholder at Elliott Davis Decosimo will serve as Board Vice Chair, and Rozalynn Goodwin, VP for Community Engagement at the South Carolina Hospital Association, will serve as Board Secretary/Treasurer.

Campaign Committee co-chairs Mike Brenan, Regional President at BB&T, and Sara Fawcett, VP of Human Resources at EDENS, are returning for their second year of service; last year overseeing a $10.6 million campaign.

United Way also welcomes newly-elected board members Mike Biediger, retired CEO of Lexington Medical Center; Cindy Cox, Executive Director of Regulatory External Affairs at AT&T; Calvin Elam, CEO of Elam Financial Group; Joan Gabel, Executive VP for Academic Affairs & Provost at the University of South Carolina; and Rusty Harris, Senior VP-Gas Distribution at SCANA Corporation.

Also joining the board are United Way’s Community Council Chairs: Bunnie Ward, Director of Policy Development and Evaluation with SC Education Oversight Committee, Education Council Chair; Lavita Harriford, Economic Development Project Manager with SCANA Corporation, Financial Stability Council Chair; and Jeremy Martin, VP for Treatment and Intervention Services with LRADAC, Health Council Chair.
