COLUMBIA, SC – United Way of the Midlands recognized 21 emerging community leaders during the 2016 Blueprint for Leadership Gradation, held June 7 at Richland Library.

United Way’s Blueprint for Leadership program is a professional development course aimed at preparing participants for volunteer leadership in the nonprofit sector.

The four-month program provides workshops on a variety of topics including nonprofit law, the roles and responsibilities of board members, strategic leadership, best practices in programs and nonprofit governance.

“Blueprint is the only professional development course in the Midlands with a specific focus on nonprofit board leadership,” said Mac Bennett, President and CEO of United Way of the Midlands. “We are proud to provide Blueprint graduates with leadership skills, nonprofit governance expertise and knowledge of our community, allowing them to effectively serve the Midlands.”
