United Way of the Piedmont presents Morgan Award to Contec Inc.’s Jack McBride

May 5, 2022

United Way of the Piedmont is pleased to announce Jack McBride as the recipient of this year’s Morgan Award. The award is given annually to a United Way of the Piedmont (UWP) leadership donor who exemplifies the award’s inscription, “One Who Cares.” As Co-Founder and CEO of Contec, Inc., McBride is not only the leader of one of the fastest-growing companies in our state, but he is also building a charitable culture within it, starting from the top.

United Way presented the award at the General Daniel Morgan and Alexis de Tocqueville Leadership Event on Thursday, April 28 at the AC Hotel in Spartanburg. This event recognizes and appreciates leadership donors who invest in United Way’s mission to connect, engage, and inspire people to transform their community.

Paige Stephenson, President & CEO of United Way of the Piedmont, said “It is an honor to recognize leaders like Jack McBride for their impact on our community. Jack demonstrates what it means to be a servant leader in addition to a business leader.”

McBride has served on United Way of the Piedmont’s Board of Directors and chaired the Resource Development Committee. As a loyal Alexis de Tocqueville leadership donor, McBride exemplifies what it means to serve others through generous contributions of his time, talents and treasure. Additionally, Contec has one of UWP’s strongest workplace campaigns and is an exemplary corporate partner in support of many facets of the work of United Way.

Upon receiving the award, McBride said, “Giving back to our community through United Way is not just the right thing to do, it helps all of us. Supporting United Way creates a better community not just for those that are struggling, but for our neighbors, our teachers, our coworkers, and our families. We’re all in this together and we all need to be part of the solution.”
