The University of South Carolina and Navatek LLC have been awarded a $9.2 million contract by the U.S. Office of Naval Research for the research of power and energy systems and the development of digital twin prototypes.

This award will create high-paying, high-skilled jobs in the Columbia area. Navatek has already hired 10 full time scientists and engineers and four interns from UofSC and South Carolina State University at their new Columbia office. They intend to hire around 50 more people in the next 30 months.

“This is a win-win for all parties, especially the state of South Carolina,” said U.S. Congressman Joe Wilson. “I am grateful that projects like these will grow our STEM-focused workforce, resulting in more career opportunities and good paying jobs.”
