UofSC’s Executive Education launching COVID-19 speaker series – April 27

April 20, 2020

The Moore School’s Executive Education department is leading a South Carolina Public Radio and Zoom video series, “Managerial Insights: Supporting Businesses During an Uncertain Time,” to provide advice for the business community about weathering the challenging business environment created by COVID-19.

The Moore School is one of the leading business schools in the world with renowned faculty who possess a wide range of experience and conduct groundbreaking research. The Executive Education department compiles the faculty’s experiences, research and insights to bring them to the business community via courses and programs and helps managers and leadership develop and achieve their business strategies.

With their mission, Associate Dean for Executive Development Raymond Smith saw an immediate need among businesses on how best to navigate all of the changes in the first few weeks of the COVID-19 interruption.

“Obviously with the university closing the campus, we felt the disruption firsthand; we had to move our programs online, we could see the streets were deserted,” Smith said. “It’s obvious from the unemployment numbers that businesses are hurting. We thought maybe we could do something to help our business community around us.”

The South Carolina Public Radio and Zoom video series began with Smith’s introduction to the series this week. Moore School Dean Peter Brews’ radio broadcast will air April 22 providing his perspective on the business challenges and opportunities created by the pandemic. On the same topic, Brews will do a live Zoom video segment Monday, April 27, at 3 p.m. Registration is required.

Each of the remaining speakers will do a Wednesday 5-minute South Carolina Public Radio broadcast followed by a Monday live Zoom video segment. The Zoom recordings will be available to view after the live segments at https://bit.ly/mooreradio.

Other speakers and their topics scheduled for the series include:
