2019 Reassessment: How Does This Affect My Property?

Richland County recently completed its five-year Countywide reassessment, which is used to determine property tax rates. During this Engage Richland event, the Assessor’s Division will explain the County reassessment process and how it affects property values and tax bills. Property owners will have an opportunity to ask general questions, as well as specific inquiries about their individual properties.

Southeast Richland Water and Sewer Community Meeting

Who: Council Vice Chair Dalhi Myers, District 10; Councilwoman Chakisse Newton, District 11; Richland County utilities officials

A community meeting will provide details on the Southeast Richland Water and Sewer Project. The project, which will serve portions of Southeast/Lower Richland with water and wastewater services, will extend the County’s existing water system and connect new sewer customers to the County’s existing wastewater treatment facility.

Residents will have the opportunity to sign up for utility services at the meeting.

From Child Safety to Criminal Investigations: The Many Roles of Your Coroner’s Office

Richland County Coroner’s Office, 6300 Shakespeare Road

Join Coroner Gary Watts and his staff to learn about the many programs and services provided by the Coroner’s Office.

The Coroner’s Office is responsible for investigating all suspicious, violent, sudden and unexpected deaths that occur in Richland County. In addition, the office offers a variety of community outreach initiatives. For example, the Sleep Right Through the Night program educates parents and caretakers about safe sleep practices for children, the volunteer C.A.R.E. Team assists families in their time of need and the Coroner’s youth arbitration efforts help young people facing charges. These programs and more are part of the services of the Coroner’s Office under the direction of Coroner Watts.

History and Hangars: Jim Hamilton-L.B. Owens Airport

Learn about the County’s historic Jim Hamilton-L.B. Owens Airport and take a tour of the facility, which is home to the S.C. Aviation Hall of Fame and a B-25 bomber undergoing restoration by the S.C. Historic Aviation Foundation.
