Upstate Companies Recognized in 2014 Excellence in Construction Awards Presented by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of the Carolinas

GREENVILLE, SC – Four Upstate companies won a combined total of 6 awards out of the 70 entries submitted in the 2014 Excellence in Construction Awards competition sponsored by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of the Carolinas. The program was open to general contractors and specialty contractors in the two-state region. To be eligible, projects had to be completed during a 12-month period ending August 31, 2014.

 

Cely Construction of Greenville won an Eagle Award — ABC’s top award — in the General Contracting category, “Commercial Under $2 Million,” for Gravitopia, the first indoor aerial extreme trampoline park in Greenville — and the state of South Carolina. Cely also won an Award of Merit for the M.T. Anderson Support Center in Greenville in the category, “Other/Specialty under $2 million.” In addition, Cely received Honorable Mention for the Greenville Health System (GHS) Downtown Office Renovation in the category, “Renovation/Restoration under $2 million.”

 

Waldrop Mechanical Services of Spartanburg won two Eagle Awards in the Specialty Contracting category, Mechanical & Plumbing. Waldrop’s winning projects were the Bob Jones University’s (BJU) Dining Common Kitchen Renovation ($1-$2 million category) and Converse College’s Multiple Facilities Upgrade Program ($2-$5 million category). Waldrop’s kitchen renovation at BJU was also a Finalist for 2014 Specialty Contractor Project of the Year.

 

KBR Building Group of Greenville won an Eagle award in the General Contracting category, “Industrial – $25 to $50 million”, for Honda Aircraft Company’s Customer Service Facility in Greensboro, North Carolina.

O’Neal of Greenville received Honorable Mention in the General Contracting category, “Industrial Over $50 million,” for Project 21- Grassroots Transformer Manufacturing Facility in Memphis, Tennessee.
