Upstate International offering LIVE ONLINE foreign language classes

April 6, 2020

Live Online Foreign Language Classes are up and running through Upstate International. Here are 13 reasons to take a live language class while still social distancing: American Sign Language, Chinese-Mandarin, Croatian, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish,Turkish, & Vietnamese. Use this stay-at-home opportunity to learn a new language. Whether you want to learn a language for work, play, travel, or simply to stimulate your brain and connect with others during COVID-19, Upstate International has a class for you.  Classes are conducted online in an informal and relaxed atmosphere and are limited to 3-12 people. Every class is taught by a native speaker dedicated to helping each student succeed and fun is part of the curriculum.

Classes meet either once or twice a week, beginning the week of April 6th and ending by June 5th.  Annual membership, normally $50, is required of every student, but in an effort to make our classes even more accessible to the community during the COVID-19 crisis, we are reducing the membership fee to $40 if you become a member during April or May. Upstate International provides the community with so much more than language class access: we are committed to continuing to serve our community as your hub for international services throughout this COVID-19 crisis, whether that is helping you to find an international resource, translation service, or more.

Upstate International is also committed to continuing our America & The World Flashpoints lunch & learn lecture series throughout the pandemic crisis. Now more than ever we need to connect with one another, learn from one another, and continue to expand our global knowledge and horizons even as we follow social distancing guidelines staying at home. Our next lecture is on Tuesday, April 7 from 12:00 -1:00pm. Spread the Word, Not the Virus: Communication in the Time of COVID-19 with Dr. Shaniece Criss as she discusses the benefits of health crisis communication. How do we transfer words into actions to keep our community safe? Join Dr. Criss, and our moderator, Nathan Stock, for a fascinating look at what to say, and not say, in times of crisis.
