Upstate Warrior Solution named first nonprofit to win Applause Award by Better Business Bureau of the Upstate

March 1, 2022

BBB® of Upstate South Carolina awarded Upstate Warrior Solution with the BBB Applause Award for meeting and exceeding advertising standards, making it the first nonprofit to receive the award. Each quarter, BBB’s Local Advertising Review Program (LARP)  recognizes a business within the 10 counties of the Upstate for adhering to BBB’s Code of Advertising guidelines.

“I am proud to announce that we have expanded the opportunity to receive this recognition to those in our non-profit community,” LARP Chairman Dorothy F. Self said. “We are blessed in the Upstate to have so many dedicated organizations serving our citizens.”

The Upstate Warrior Solution mission is to connect warriors and their family members to resources and opportunities, lead them through the process of self-empowerment, and inspire the community to embrace local warriors and their family members as valued neighbors and friends.

“We applaud Upstate Warrior Solution for giving our men and women a community to which each can return, be embraced and ultimately uplifted,” Self said. “As Upstate Warrior Solution promotes its mission, it does so with the utmost integrity while being a faithful steward of the time, treasure, and talent of their supporters.”

UWS Community Relations Manager, Catherine Pelicano, said they are honored to be the first nonprofit in the Upstate to receive the Applause Award.

“Upstate Warrior Solution is committed to transparency,” Pelicano said. “We strive to maintain high standards of accountability to our stakeholders and the entire community we serve.”

Implemented through a local partnership between BBB and the American Advertising Federation of Greenville, SC, the LARP committee monitors advertising claims against BBB’s Code of Advertising, a comprehensive set of guidelines established to help businesses plan honest and effective marketing and advertising programs.
