USC Controller’s Office earns 14th-straight Excellence in Financial Reporting award
April 9, 2025The University of South Carolina Controller’s Office earned its 14th-consecutive Certificate of Achievement in Finance Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for 2024.
The GFOA services the needs of over 20,000 appointed and elected local, state and provincial-level government officials and other finance practitioners.
“Earning this award for 14-straight years, especially with all the significant GASB reporting implementations over the last several years, is a huge accomplishment and one that I am extremely proud of,” said Mandy Kibler, the university’s associate vice president for the division of administration and finance & the university controller. “This achievement demonstrates the dedication of my staff to ensure the highest integrity in financial reporting and continued commitment to being good stewards of the university’s financial resources.”
The university controller’s office gained the certificate, the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and finance reporting, for its annual comprehensive financial report (ACFR). The university’s ACFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users to read the document.
The document provides a snapshot of the university’s finances at the end of fiscal year 2024, including revenues and expenditures, capital assets worth and more.
