USC School of Medicine Greenville announces the appointment of Leah Robinson, PhD as Associate Dean of Student Affairs

USC School of Medicine Greenville announced the selection of Dr. Leah Robinson as Associate Dean of Student Affairs and assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences. Dr. Robinson, Ph.D., Ed.S., M.A., is a longtime higher education professional, coordinating and revamping key programs and curricula during her distinguished tenure at Wayne State University.
The Associate Dean for Student Affairs at School of Medicine Greenville (SOMG) is responsible for the organization, supervision, evaluation, and fiscal management of the Office of Student Affairs, to include all aspects of the student experience including orientation, academic and career advising, progression through medical school, student well-being and professional development, the residency match, and graduation. Dr. Robinson also will hold an assistant professor appointment in the Biomedical Sciences Department at SOMG.
Dr. Robinson is a veteran academic professional in medical education with expertise in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). An advisor, mentor and coach in pre-and post-baccalaureate medical education and an academic curriculum program expert, Dr. Robinson helped shape many programs at Wayne State University (WSU). Her expertise in teaching, advising, and program and curriculum development is focused on sustainable performance and program improvement.
Most recently at WSU’s School of Medicine, she served as director of the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. In this role, she fostered an inclusive atmosphere through strategic and operational pathways programs, supported recruitment activities across K12, undergraduate, and graduate levels, and supported retention of students, faculty, and staff from underrepresented populations. Furthermore, Dr. Robinson also concurrently served as director of academic support, overseeing the redesign the pre-medical post-baccalaureate program to align with medical school trends and establish the first professional certificate for the WSU School of Medicine. As the director of academic support, Dr. Robinson was responsible for the academic programming for the Premedical Post Baccalaureate Program, where she taught the Psychology and Technology of Success course.
