USC Union Laurens Location to Offer Hands-On Cooking Course This Fall
July 19, 2026The University of South Carolina Union’s Laurens Location will offer a new hands-on cooking course this fall, giving Laurens County residents the chance to build kitchen skills in a newly renovated teaching kitchen.
The course, HTMT 270: Intro to Food Production, will be held at the campus beginning in August. Classes will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Campus officials said the course is open to everyone, regardless of prior cooking experience. It is aimed at students considering a hospitality degree, those with ambitions of becoming a chef and community members who simply want a fun, hands-on class taught by a well-known chef.
Participants will learn practical kitchen skills while cooking together in the campus’s brand-new teaching space in Laurens County.
The Laurens Location is a branch campus of USC Union, part of the University of South Carolina System’s Palmetto College. It offers general education classes along with pathways toward associate and bachelor’s degrees, allowing area students to complete coursework close to home.
