USC Upstate Commercial Music Concert Set for Tuesday, April 24

The University of South Carolina Upstate Commercial Music Concert will rock you at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April, 24, 2018  in the Humanities and Performing Arts Center Studio Theatre, located at 170 Gramling Drive, on the campus of USC Upstate.

Get ready to relive some of the greatest music of all time as the Commercial Music Program brings to life the music of the 1970s with hits like – “Carry on My Wayward Son,” by Kansas, “Country Roads,” by John Denver and “Barracuda,” by Heart.

The Commercial Music Combo will take you through the masterpieces of rock by legendary musicians featuring, AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Heart, Pink Floyd, and, David Bowie. They will also perform favorites by Elton John, Pure Prairie League, John Denver and many others.

The evening will feature a number of commercial music majors performing as vocalists and on guitar, keyboards, bass, violin and drums.

In addition to the Commercial Music Combo, the show will also showcase Mission Essential, the official rock band of the 282nd Army Band at Fort Jackson, and the Nolan Stolz Rock Orchestra.

Mission Essential’s members come from across United States, with the current members originating from California, Texas, Georgia, Nevada, Mississippi and Puerto Rico. Prior to the serving with the 282nd Army Band, its members served with the U.S. Army Japan Band, 8th Army Band (Korea), 10th Mountain Division Band (Ft. Drum, NY), America’s First Corps Band (Ft. Lewis, WA), Army Signal Corps Band (Ft. Gordon, GA) and the 25th Infantry Division Band (Schofield Barracks, HA). In 2017, the group won Army Music’s Music Performance Team of the Year competition, in the popular music with vocals category.

The Nolan Stolz Rock Orchestra will perform songs from their recently released album, “NSRO,” and will feature students and faculty from the commercial music program.
