USC Upstate To Host College Goal South Carolina

SPARTANBURG, SC – February 7, 2011 – The Upward Bound Program and the Financial Aid Department at the University of South CarolinaUpstate, along with partners, will host College Goal South Carolina onSaturday, March 5.  This financial aid workshop will take place in theHealth Education Complex from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the USC Upstatecampus. The event is free and open to the public.

College Goal South Carolina is designed to provide financial aidinformation and to assist in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  College Goal South Carolina is a volunteer effort by the South Carolina Association of Student Financial AidAdministrators, the South Carolina Commission of Higher Education, andthe South Carolina Student Loan Corporation in cooperation with theUniversity of South Carolina Upstate.

On Saturday, March 5, the Spartanburg-area VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) will provide on-site tax services to assist with income tax reports. Financial aid experts and other volunteers will help parentsand students with financial aid paperwork for any college or universityand provide information about financial aid options and eligibility forgrants and scholarships.  Participants need to bring a social securitynumber, W-2 forms from the previous year and parent’s most recentfederal Income tax returns.
