USO South Carolina provides support to National Guard Troops responding to flooding throughout the state

October 7, 2015

WHAT:

USO South Carolina is providing support to over 1,200 National Guard troops who have been deployed to the region to help local first responders in the wake of historical flooding throughout the state. The USO center at Columbia
Metropolitan Airport will remain 24/7 for the next few days and is providing resources to those service members being transported in and out of the area. USO South Carolina staff are also coordinating water and snack deliveries to those troops serving in some of the hardest hit, remote areas of the state.

WHERE:   USO Columbia Metropolitan Airport Center
3250 Airport Blvd.
Suite 7
West Columbia, SC 29170

WHY:  When natural disasters strike, the nation’s National Guard troops are frequently called on by local authorities to help as first responders. The USO is always by the side of our men and women in uniform and weather-related emergencies are no exception. From the moment they are called, the USO is ready and positioned to assist them on the front lines.

WHO:   For interviews on support in the region, please contact Joanie Thresher, Director, USO South Carolina at 803-404-1824.
