VC3 celebrates National Cybersecurity Awareness Month

October 15, 2019

VC3 is celebrating National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM) during the month of October. Observed every October, NCSAM was created by the Department of Homeland Security and the National Cyber Security Alliance to promote cybersecurity education and help Americans stay safe online.

Cyber attacks are increasing in frequency and the need for organizations to have a strong cybersecurity plan is more critical than ever. According to an article published by Varonis, 71% of attacks begin with spear phishing emails. Ransomware attacks are growing by 350% annually and the average cost of a malware attack on a company is $2.4 million.

To help keep organizations safe online and celebrate NCSAM, VC3 is sharing tips each Wednesday on its Facebook page. VC3 has published an article focused on the key concepts of NCSAM: Own It. Secure It. Protect It. Additionally, the article covers how an organization can prioritize its cybersecurity investment.
