Veteran Andrew E. Thibault joins Bluestein Attorneys

April 26, 2023

Attorney Andrew E. Thibault has joined Bluestein Attorneys. His practice will focus entirely on Veterans’ Disability.

Thibault, who is from Vermont, will join attorney Tim Mercer in the firm’s Albany, N.Y., office.

Thibault is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a former correctional officer. He has been working with fellow Marine Mercer as a law clerk since obtaining his Juris Doctor degree from Vermont Law School in 2022. During law school, Andrew spent much of his time assisting veterans through a veterans legal assistance project.

“When I came home from Iraq,” he says, “I saw many veterans struggle to obtain the benefits they had earned. Many had given up on the process, leaving behind compensation and resources that could change their lives. I wanted to help them navigate that process. I want to ensure that we are not leaving anyone behind.”

Andrew previously earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the College of St. Joseph in 2016, where his studies focused on history and terrorism. He continued to study counter-terrorism and criminal justice in graduate school, earning a master’s degree in 2017.

Thibault served as a Marine from 2003-2007. He is a combat veteran, having served in Fallujah, Iraq, as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom III, and was a member of a Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Team (FAST). He also participated in the largest humanitarian aid operation since the Vietnam War, in Beirut, Lebanon, as part of Operation Strengthen Hope.

“We are so glad Andrew has joined us to further reinforce our growing veterans practice which assists veterans receive the services they have so richly earned,” said Bluestein Attorneys founding partner Margaret “Marti” Miles Bluestein. “As a veteran himself, he knows the mission, and is fully committed to helping our clients.”
