VITAL Federal Credit Union will merge with Founders Federal Credit Union

VITAL Federal Credit Union members voted “yes” to begin a merger with Founders Federal Credit Union on May 20, 2025. On Friday, September 12, VITAL Federal Credit Union office (1450 John B. White Sr. Blvd., Spartanburg, SC 29306) will close and reopen Monday, September 15 as Founders Federal Credit Union.

Founders Federal Credit Union CEO, Bruce Brumfield stated his commitment to the merger transition being as easy and seamless as possible for VITAL members and employees. “We already share many common bonds with VITAL and we believe this will be a positive experience for everyone. We look forward to serving VITAL members and providing them with the same personal service along with strengthened financial offerings.”

Founders Federal Credit Union, one of the largest and most innovative in the Carolinas, was founded in 1950 in Fort Mill, South Carolina to provide financial services to the employees of Springs Industries, Inc. Founders now serves over 276,000 members with 45 locations in North and South Carolina. The credit union has over $4.8 billion in assets.

VITAL Federal Credit Union was started in 1964 to serve the Spartanburg community. They serve about 6,000 members and have $57 million assets and 1 location in Spartanburg.
