Warren R. Nelson appointed to MUSC Board of Visitors

CHARLESTON, SC – February 4, 2011 – Warren R. Nelson., chief financial officer for JEM Restaurant Group, Inc, has been appointed to the Medical University of South Carolina Board of Visitors. Members are nominated by the trustees of the university and serve as ambassadors in their respective regions. Nelson was appointed by Dr. Donald Johnson.
JEM Restaurant Group, Inc. operates 116 Taco Bell and Pizza Hut franchised restaurants. The company was incorporated in 1998 and is based in Charleston.

Nelson, who earned a degree in accounting from Missouri State University and his MBA from the University of South Florida, has served as chairman and treasurer of the Florida Chapter of the ALS Association.  Nelson has also served on the ALS National Association Board of Representatives and its Finance Committee.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a motor neuron disease, first described in 1869 by the noted French neurologist Jean-Martin Charcot. Most commonly, the disease strikes people between the ages of 40 and 70, and as many as 30,000 Americans have the disease at any given time.

Nelson and his wife, Carol, have two sons, Daniel (28) and Kevin (24).
