Watson Tate Savory Receives Highest Southeast Regional Award for Design Excellence

COLUMBIA, SC – October 11, 2012 – Watson Tate Savory has received an Honor Award for the design of their Columbia offices from the American Institute of Architects, South Atlantic Region, including both Carolinas and Georgia. This marks the first time since 1959 a Columbia firm or Columbia building has received the SAR Honor Award, the highest regional award conferred by the AIA.

An adaptive reuse of the 1936 Unity Life Insurance Building, the Office of Watson Tate Savory has previously received four state and local awards for design excellence, adaptive reuse and energy efficiency. It was also the first structure in Columbia’s City Center to receive LEED Certification by the US Green Building Council. The Award was presented at a Gala in Atlanta on September 21st.
