Watt Center to host ‘Disruptive Technologies’ Innovation Forum

The Watt Family Innovation Center at Clemson University is hosting an Innovation Forum on “Disruptive Technologies: Impacts and Responses” from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 12.
The event will be driven by discussions on how collaborations among universities and industries not only produce disruptive technologies, but also help to prepare for disruptions and lessen negative impacts.
Presentations by the Watt Center’s Founding Innovation Partners — Scientific Research Corp., Haworth, Phillips Lighting, Comporium, SAS and the South Carolina Research Authority — will identify disruptive technologies in their industries and set the stage for the rest of the forum.
The presenters will interact with Clemson students in a panel discussion and question-and-answer session on the characteristics of potential future jobs in an environment of rapidly developing disruptive technologies. Students will also have opportunities to interact with industry representatives to investigate job opportunities in their industries.
The Watt Center will announce two new competitions for Innovation Fellowship awards, one for faculty and one for students. Awards will recognize projects that address topics introduced by the Founding Innovation Partners. Details for proposal submission will be presented at the forum.
