Weather Forces Delay for Fountain Inn’s Sounds of Summer Kickoff; Rescheduled for May 29
May 25, 2026Anticipated severe weather temporarily quieted the downtown music scene over the weekend, forcing city officials to delay the highly anticipated return of a seasonal staple.
The opening night of Fountain Inn’s annual “Sounds of Summer” concert series, originally scheduled to kick off on Friday evening, May 22, was officially postponed due to forecasted thunderstorms moving through the Upstate region.
The kickoff event was set to feature a live performance by the band Harvest Moon. However, with public safety in mind and outdoor conditions threatening to deteriorate, organizers made the decision to cancel the Friday performance before music fans packed out the venue with lawn chairs.
The delay will not keep the music paused for long, however. City officials announced that the first official installment of the concert series has been successfully rescheduled for this coming Friday night, May 29.
The community event will run from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will take place at its traditional outdoor home, the Pavilion on Depot Street.
Residents are encouraged to shake off the rainy weekend, dust off their tailgate chairs, and head downtown this Friday to officially welcome the summer music season to Fountain Inn.
