Projected $47 million premier retirement community to bring 140 local jobs

LEXINGTON, SC – Officials with Wellmore announced that they have closed on the land in Lexington, S.C. where they will construct a $47 million premier retirement community. The location is off Laurel Ridge Road beside the Golden Hills Golf & Country Club and across the street from the Lexington Place shopping center. The community is expected to create nearly 140 local jobs in healthcare and management, with site-work and landscape design contracts awarded to local firms.

The property in Lexington is the second Wellmore community. It is a hybrid wellness and health care model centered on nationally recognized initiatives which extend and improve the lives of older adults.

Similar to the newly constructed Wellmore of Tega Cay, Wellmore of Lexington will offer assisted living, Alzheimer’s care, skilled nursing services, and short term rehab as well as a community clubhouse, gourmet dining, on-site rehabilitation services and a full-service wellness center for residents.

Wellmore of Lexington seeks to transform each member’s lifestyle by mitigating life stressors through the provision of maintenance-free living, fine dining, social activities, wellness classes, full-service bar, salon and spa, and transportation services. All member services are bolstered with the independent living influenced design, upscale finishes, and multiple gathering spaces, both indoor and outdoor.

In addition to the one and two bedroom apartment homes, Wellmore of Lexington will have 14 cottages in the community.

“The Town of Lexington is happy to help open the doors of Wellmore, the newest senior facility in our neighborhood,” said Mayor Steve MacDougall. “Wellmore provides much needed care for our senior population, while strengthening economic development in our community.”

Officials with Wellmore are honored to partner with the Town of Lexington on this exciting community.

The company’s Chief Executive Officer Donald Thompson says the Lexington property will span nearly 200,000 square feet once complete, with residential accommodations and a 27,000-square-foot-clubhouse and wellness center. Construction is slated to begin in August with an expected opening of Spring 2017.

“Our goal is to help our members maintain or improve their current level of living and wellness. Purpose-Based Wellness Programming provides older adults with a non-clinical, cost-effective way to maintain their independence as they age.”

Wellmore will have a continuum of care ranging from assisted living to Alzheimer’s care to skilled nursing.

Wellmore is the culmination of years of research and millions of dollars spent in developing wellness programming which helps older adults better manage chronic diseases or recover from negative health events, such as a fall-related fracture.

Officials with Wellmore are looking forward to beginning the construction process. To request more information regarding Wellmore Lexington, please visit www.Well-More.com.
