WellPartners’ Kimberly Bensonhaver, DDS, receives topDentists™ in the Midlands honors
June 9, 2021WellPartners Adult Dental Clinic dentist, Kimberly Bensonhaver, DDS, or “Dr. Kimi,” is recognized as one of the topDentists™ in the Midlands.
The topDentists™ teams asked thousands of dentists, “If you had a patient in need of a dentist, which dentist would you refer them to?” With years of experience, continuing education, manner with patients, use of new techniques and technologies, and physical results in mind, dentists and specialists created a list of 2021 topDentists™. Dr. Kimi was selected as one of the topDentists™ in the Midlands from a list of more than 140 dentists and specialists in the Columbia and Midlands areas of SC.
“We are proud of Dr. Kimi and her efforts to provide exceptional care throughout her career and at WellPartners,” said Sara Fawcett, President and CEO of United Way of the Midlands. “Dr. Kimi’s honor is a true reflection of the caliber of professionals and volunteers at WellPartners, who provide dental and eye health services to those who are underinsured, uninsured or low-income.”
From the start of her career, Dr. Kimi was committed to serving underserved populations. In 2005, she attended Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in Loma Linda, California, because “it champions service and whole person care,” she said. LLUSD’s curriculum afforded students the opportunity to provide free healthcare to the local impoverished population.
Dr. Kimi extended her dental services internationally by going on mission trips funded by the University’s Alumni Association. Mexico, Belize and Fiji are three countries she visited to offer dental care to many who had never seen a dentist previously.
Dr. Kimi brought her mission-driven heart to Columbia, SC after graduating. As the dentist at Columbia Oral Health Clinic, she served community members with HIV and AIDS, residents at Columbia Women’s Shelter and patients referred from United Way’s grant-funded Free Medical Clinic.
“I am blessed to work with a wonderful and compassionate staff to provide greatly needed dental treatment to the underserved Lexington County population,” said Dr. Kimi.
Since April of 2013, she has been a dentist at WellPartners Adult Dental Clinic, which is owned and operated by United Way of the Midlands with support from Lexington County, Lexington Medical Center, Prisma Health Midlands and Richland County.
