Wells Fargo’s Philanthropic Giving in South Carolina Exceeds $3.1 million

CHARLESTON, SC – March 27, 2012 – Wells Fargo & Company hasannounced that it invested over $3.1 million in more than 375 nonprofitsin South Carolina in 2011.  In addition, Wells Fargo team memberscontributed more than 10,800 volunteer hours to help their neighborhoodsand communities succeed.

2011 state-wide community highlights include:
 

  • Coordinated a record-setting Wells Fargo Community Support andUnited Way campaign, which raised nearly $539,000 in team member givingand was an increase year-over-year.
  • Hosted a workshop in Columbia for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage,Wachovia Mortgage and Wells Fargo Home Equity customers facing financialhardships. Wells Fargo invited hundreds of South Carolina homeowners tothe home preservation event.
  • Collected over 18,000 pounds of food throughout the state andcontributed $50,000 to the Harvest Hope and Lowcountry Food Bank to helpfight hunger.
  • Sponsored Black Expos in Charleston, Columbia and Greenville.
  • Hosted a signature nonprofit summit, “The Wells Fargo 2011Nonprofit Leader and Family Foundation Summit: Leading and Navigatingthrough Challenging Times,” attended by more than 150 representativesfrom public and private nonprofits.
  • Partnered with the Greenville Board of Realtors on a Habitat Houseand contributed $22,000 along with team member volunteer hours to helpbuild the home.
  • Sponsored a celebrity softball game for Louie’s Kids, a non-profitorganization that raises funds to help treat childhood obesity,resulting in an attendance of over 4,000 people and raising more than$65,000.
  • Participated in national Teach Children to Save workshops, reaching more than 2,250 children across the state.
