Wells Fargo Names Gibson Commercial Banking Division Manager for Carolinas

CHARLOTTE, NC – February 13, 2009 –  Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:WFC) today named Stan Gibson as head of the newly formed Carolinas division for the combined Commercial Banking businesses of Wells Fargo and Wachovia Corporation. Gibson is based in Columbia, S.C.

In his new role, Gibson will manage the company’s Commercial Banking operations in North Carolina and South Carolina. Most recently, Gibson served as Wachovia Wholesale Banking executive for the Southeast region.

Prior to joining Wachovia in 2004, Gibson served as the North and South Carolina strategies commercial executive, as well as the South Carolina State President for Bank of America. A Carolinas native, Gibson is chairman of the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center; past chairman of the South Carolina Bankers Association and the USC Business Partnership Foundation and formerly served on the board of directors for Spoleto Festival USA, The Psaras Foundation and the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce. Gibson is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, Louisiana State University’s School of Banking and the Darden School of Commercial Banking at the University of Virginia.
